After School Group Specialist

Project Gametime is an energized, professional team which provides staff training and professional development for youth service professionals in camps and schools. PGT trains staff uses high energy games to increase social interaction, boost team building, and expand opportunities for leadership. In addition, these professionals build relationships with one another, enhance their confidence, and engage each other through healthy competitive and noncompetitive activities. Our trainers have over 30 years experience in youth development, staff training and project management.

After School Program Director (Head Coach)

Here’s where you come in:

In the role of a Project Gametime Group Specialist , you are directly responsible for providing supervision and a safe social and emotional space to youth in partnering organizations

Specifically you will:

  • Facilitate and support all After School Program activities for young people (ages 6-15). ALL Project Gametime activities take place in school settings, including After School Programs and/or community centers

  • Develop lesson plans and prepare materials for After School Program activities if necessary

  • Use a wide variety of tools to relentlessly engage hard-to-reach, sometimes resistant, young people Build and sustain strong, productive working relationships with site staff

  • Maintain a high level of flexibility and professionalism at all times

  • Collect, organize, and submit participant sign in sheets, surveys, etc if needed.

  • Work closely with PGT Leadership to expand and deepen facilitation skill set and tool box

  • Attend additional meetings with program staff: as necessary, average 1-2 hours per After School Program

  • Other duties, as necessary

Required Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in an after school or After School Program setting leading activities and developing lesson plans.

  • Strong content knowledge of engaging recreational and artistic activities for youth.

  • Thorough knowledge of classroom management, behavior management, and positive youth development principles.

  • Interest in providing quality hands-on theme based projects, and recreation experiences to youth in grades K-12

  • Experience preparing program participants for sharing, culminating events, and exhibits.

  • Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds in school and community center settings.

  • Strong professionalism with the ability to take on multiple responsibilities, be flexible,and possess a positive team-oriented attitude.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong understanding of the after school program model with the ability to enforce program expectations and department policies.

  • Passionate about providing quality artistic and recreational experiences to youth of all ages.

  • Must be able to work five days a week Monday-Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, and on select holidays from 8:00am-6:00pm.

  • Co-teach with other specialist in the classroom and lead groups if necessary

  • Find/Create opportunities for students to learn and build upon their skills and interests.

  • Maintain records of all participants and activities including attendance sheets and progress within the activity.
